Jeanne Velonis
Performance: 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 99 Estherwood Avenue, DF
Accordions on deck! New and old folk, classical, and undefinable music on solo accordion.
Jeanne Velonis, accordion
Jeanne Velonis made her accordion debut at Carnegie Hall in 2009 in a performance of “In C” by Terry Riley, an event masterminded by the Kronos Quartet. Subsequently she joined a local symphony orchestra, and started taking lessons, in that order. Unwilling to limit herself to a single style or genre of music, she performs folk, classical, and contemporary pieces, and more. She is a member of the Bachtopus Accordion Ensemble, and has served on the Board of the American Accordionists’ Association. She released her first commercial recording, New York Dronescape, in December of 2021. This performance will include an old hornpipe from Dorchester, England, and a modern hornpipe from Staten Island, New York, among other things!
